Finally, another blog.
It’s been way too long since I’ve been at my writing desk. But, bit by bit, I’m working my way closer to the computer. I love to write. Making stuff up is fun. The more dramatic the better. Love, passion, killing people, those sorts of ideas that take me away from my regular self and allow me escapism. I need escapism.
My year so far.
I mentioned in my last blog, that my book, Her Aussie Protector, was a finalist in the Romance Writers of Australia’s Ruby award. In August, my friend, Marilyn and I travelled to Darwin for the awards dinner. Unfortunately, my book didn’t win. But, I have a lovely certificate and a sticker stating I was a finalist. We had a great night. My family was horrified when I told them we were doing FIFO (fly in. fly out) But, it was a great experience. Would I do it again? Not so sure, but life’s about creating new experiences.
My website
I’m embarrassed to say that even though the Magic Jackie, Jackie Matjasec from the Simple Budget has created me a fabulous website, I’m still figuring out how to use it. I’m really going to have to change my mindset from, I can’t to I can. I will. When I attended my last outing, at a book fair, I offered those who signed up for my newsletter, which I’m still struggling with, a short story. I have the story all ready to go, still figuring
out how to attach names so I can send it. So, that really needs to be sorted. Soon.
What’s going on with Rosie
On Saturday the 24th October, from 9 till 4pm I’m attending the Logan Bookfest, this year it’s being held at the Beenleigh Events Centre. I enjoy taking myself out to book fairs. They are great places for meeting readers, other writers. I’m hopeful Magic Jackie will be the next table to me. We work well together. So, come along, say hi. Entry’s free entry.
I’ve started taking myself to Writing Fridays at Logan Central Library. It’s a good place to go. Even if it’s just to talk and think writing.
IDEAS.
I’ve had some fabulous ideas for characters. One I met on the plane flight home from Darwin. He was a lovely young man. An American Air force person, who was in Darwin working with our helicopter pilots. He was teaching our pilots, the ins and outs of a new craft. That would be an interesting career for one of my heroes, except he be an Aussie.
Till next time, remember,
Life is to be lived,
Go live yours.
