July 26
My year so far.
Well, it’s been a challenging year so far. July, just over half way through and as the old saying goes, things can only get better
My website
Thanks to the gorgeous Jackie Matjasec creator of The Simple Budget, or as I call her, Magic Jackie, my new website is up and running. All of you who know me, know, I struggle with technology. I’m learning slowly, but I’ll get there. I’m concentrating on a Blog/Newsletter every month. Hopefully, that is doable. I live in hope.
A while back, I participated in a book fair at the Beenleigh Historical Village, it was a wonderful day. I met some fabulous people, who bought my book, and signed up for my Blog/Newsletter. Now, all I need to learn is how to attach their names to my online list, so I can send them the copy of the short story I promised. Here’s the address.
What’s going on with Rosie
I received some fabulous, exciting, amazing, wonderful news last week. My book, Her Aussie Protector, finialled in Romance Writers of Australia, Finalist Ruby award, for Romantic Suspense.
This is such a special time for me. My darling man, before he passed away in October last year, made me promise to enter the competition. When the competition opened, I baulked, fear, imposter syndrome bit me hard, but I promised him I would enter, so I did. And this fabulous book has made it to the top three in the section and I’m thrilled. My Cliff was my biggest, loudest, most adamant supporter of my writing. He also made me promise to keep writing. And I’ll keep that promise too. To celebrate the nomination, on August 22nd, my mentor Marilyn and I are heading to Darwin for the awards. Wish me luck.
Earlier this month, I went along to an informal meet and greet at Vantage Logan Village with another local author Kathy Shanks. Thanks Angela for inviting us to come and talk to your book club members. Meeting readers and talking writing is a great way to spend a few hours.
IDEAS.
I’m working my way through my current manuscript. My characters are working together to torment me by not doing what I thought they’d do. But It’s interesting. I’m also taking notes on what’s next, My books seem to come from my characters. Two names jumped into my head, Sloan Andrews, and Nikita Chambers. And that’s all I’ve got so far. Curious to see where it takes me.
When I’m out and about, I’m always checking people out, in a positive creative way. I was down at the Broadbeach Blues fest a few months
ago, having a boozy brunch with my girlfriends. My attention was nabbed by this gorgeous young woman. Tall, athletic build, honey blonde hair, big smile. And I thought she’d make a great character. I mentioned it to my friends, next thing they called her over, and we chatted. She answered all my questions, laughed out loud. So, from that conversation, Nikita came to life. Can’t wait to see what she wants to do with Sloan.
Till next time, remember,
Life is to be lived,
Go live yours.
Rosie
